Day 1, the evening post

Justin has spent most of the day snoozing. The near 24 hours of sedation plus all the background work his body is doing, beginning to repair itself, has taken its toll. Plus, seems every medication they give him causes drowsiness. His frustration level has been all over the charts… right now, at least an 8. But the really good news, he has experienced very little pain. The epidural has done such an amazing job keeping him comfortable and allowing his bowels to start waking up.

Justin has started running a little fever and his lactate levels were slightly elevated so they’ve started him on his breathing regiment to keep those lungs open and healthy.

Nausea has been an issue today, as well. Justin also struggled with this after his past two surgeries. Although they are draining stomach acid, until his bowels start emptying, this will be a problem.

Everyday will get better and with this as our starting point, we’re in a great place. There’s still a long road ahead so please continue to pray for his peace, comfort, and healing.

As far as visitors, we’ll see how he’s feeling in the morning.

Good night, my friends. Much love, Christina.
